Deadline Looms

The Admirals have two games left before the March 9th Trade Deadline. While a trade for Brendan Witt was allegedly a "done deal" a week ago, it appears now that the injuries in Music City have changed the trade profile of the parent club.

Pivko and Zanon, who were both potential trade bait are now looking like they may be called up to Nashville to fill in for the injured Eaton and Perrault, according to a written report in Nashville. And for this, I am happy. Both Libor and Greg have worked hard to get noticed by the Predators, to get a shot at the big club. I'm glad that they may finally get a chance to show what they can do for an extended period rather than 1 or 2 games.

However, the Predators may still deal, either as a seller or as a buyer depending on what others are looking for or offering. However, from another written report, David Poile was concerned that more teams were buying than selling. This could mean that the expected "flurry of deals" at the Deadline might not occur. I think that they might move on a center still, even though they are deep at the position. This would not be good for the Admirals as it has been said elsewhere that any trade that involved players on the NHL Roster would be unlikely.

Four days and a few hours left, keep the coffee hot and the phone line clear.
